Can your first love be your true love?

My best friend is soon 16, and he never had a girlfriend, since he said he isn't ready to be in a relationship. He is someone hard to get, because many girls have crushes on him. Lately he's been telling me about this girl he really like. I find them really cute together when they hang out and i was wondering if that girl could be he's first and last love? He's a good guy, he's polite and a gentleman.
